MOVIE SYNOPSIS - Where can I watch it and what's the story of this 1947 film?

A local senator, who has never left his homeland and his party too annoying, despite being rather sloppy and full of strange and bizarre socio-political ideas, decides, with the help of his young and ambitious press agent, implying publicly that " wanting, wanting, not to the President of the country, but if the town asks him .... ". This causes stupor in his party would be a disaster because it is present, but things get complicated when you know that for many years has been writing a diary, where things that are written better not to come to light.
