MOVIE SYNOPSIS - Where can I watch it and what's the story of this 1999 film?

The film piece was shot with amateur actors except the lead actress Yang Qing had done some television programs. The time is set to daily life in which from the outside appears that nothing happens. People go to work, come home exhausted, and dream vacations. The presence of Western habits - Coca Cola and McDonald's - is evident in this piece of cinema that tries to have a documentary approach to this issue. Much of the narrative is improvised. Liu Bingjian shuffled several names for this film, especially something that sounded to " toilet literature ". This title, which means "Men and Women", was chosen to make the movie less controversial, if someday there is the opportunity to release it in China. Nannan Nunu has received the FIPRESCI award for its theme maverick in the International Film Festival of Locarno in 1999.
