MOVIE SYNOPSIS - Where can I watch it and what's the story of this 1955 film?

Le Grand Cirque Calder, is contrary to its name, a miniature circus. This film " Friends " by Jean Painlevé is the first record on the famous circus that Calder produced in Paris between 1926 and 1931. It is also the most complete record, with a total of 28 attractions. Painlevé gives the public a vision of a viewer sitting comfortably with flat economy and camera movements. Unorthodox, this idea of filming a "document" was not always understood at the time and the director proposes to rework the film Calder and make a "real " documentary by inserting the point of view of the viewers. Finally, and to our joy, he left as it was, with Calder himself as master of ceremonies, omnipresent and omnipotent.
