MOVIE SYNOPSIS - Where can I watch it and what's the story of this 1998 film?

The police officer Frank Connor San Francisco embarks on a desperate search for donor for his son, seriously ill. Things get complicated when the donor happens to be the prisoner Pete McCabe, a dangerous serial murderer who sees his trip to the hospital as the perfect means to freedom. A remake called Desperate Measures (2011) was made based on this movie.
