This documentary recounts the trial of gangster James Whitey Bulger, using the court proceedings as a springboard to explore allegations of corruption within the highest levels of law enforcement. Bulger was an American gangster of Irish origin who ruled the underworld of Boston for decades and was FBI informant He and his case were the inspiration for the character played by Jack Nicholson in The Departed Frank Costello.
