MOVIE SYNOPSIS - Where can I watch it and what's the story of this 1995 film?

Early nineteenth century. A lone man who also lives in the mountains of North Carolina recently widowed. When meeting Annalees, a slave who flees terrified of his master, is deeply disturbed. It offers shelter, but instead then becomes involved in a real manhunt that can only save his perfect knowledge of the mountains.
