MOVIE SYNOPSIS - Where can I watch it and what's the story of this 1983 film?

Martinique Islands, in the early thirties. The teenage orphan Jose, only 11 years, and his grandmother live in a small town. Almost everyone is engaged in cutting sugar cane, which barely enough to keep. The slightest infraction is punished. The only way to evolve is to study, so Joseph is applied to study and prepare for a test that will allow you to study in the capital of the French colony. One day Joseph and grandmother move to Fort - de-France to make José studies easier.
