MOVIE SYNOPSIS - Where can I watch it and what's the story of this 1942 film?

The teenager Ruth Sherwood wants to be a journalist at all costs, thus moving from Ohio to New York to see his dream fulfilled. On the journey is accompanied by her sister Elena, an aspiring actress. Both rented a poor apartment in Greenwich Village, where they meet all sorts of eccentric characters. The conflict is that nothing of what he writes Ruth seems to be good enough to be published, until he decides to tell their own personal experiences. A remake called Mi hermana Elena (1955) was made based on this movie.
