MOVIE SYNOPSIS - Where can I watch it and what's the story of this 1985 film?

Produced by Coppola and Lucas, " Mishima " is a biographical portrait of Japanese author Yukio Mishima. The piece of film investigates the inner turmoil and contradictions of a man who tried to reach an impossible harmony between self, art and society. The plot centers on the day that shocked the world Mishima, to be in public seppuku or harakiri in the Army Headquarters. The narrative is interspersed with flashbacks to tell several episodes of his childhood, his beginnings as a writer, later professional success, his transformation into a media star, his obsessions with physical beauty and his ambiguous sexual tastes, thus the creation of the " Shield Society ". The various episodes also evoke stylized fragments of his most renowned works of fiction. The photography of John Bailey, exquisite sets and costumes by Eiko Ishioka, and unforgettable Philip Glass soundtrack make the film a tribute to the ideals and concerns of Mishima and, moreover, in a bold research work of art.
