There are three stages that Roberto Rossellini identified as fundamental in the representation of a time rich in cognitive anxiety and crossed by contradictory impulses. The first, corresponding to the first episode of this long work made for Italian television, is entitled " The Exile of Cosimo ". The second, "The Power of Cosimo " describes the coming to power of the noble Florentine Medici and the beginning of a new era, rich in cultural and artistic events. The third, "Leon Battista Alberti " analyzes, on the historical context dominated by the figure of Cosimo, the role of the artist and intellectual.
