MOVIE SYNOPSIS - Where can I watch it and what's the story of this 1984 film?

In 1911, Charles Saganne, a lieutenant in the French army of peasant origin, had all the qualities of a hero of Balzac: ambition, love and good presence. Tired of garrison life, decides to go south, to the Sahara. He meets life and death, adventure, freedom, struggle in the battlefield, failure, suffering and pleasure, love and glory in the desert pacification campaign, where a strong bearing his name.
