MOVIE SYNOPSIS - Where can I watch it and what's the story of this 1963 film?

Set on a marginally anachronistic Victorian London, the film focuses on Macheath, a criminal amoral and unheroic. Macheath home with Polly Peachum. This displeases her father, who controls the beggars of London, and claims that Macheath hanged. His attempts are thwarted by the fact that the Chief of Police, Tiger Brown, is an old comrade in arms of Macheath. Still, Peachum exerts his influence and eventually gets to arrest Macheath and he is sentenced to be hanged. Macheath escapes his destiny through a deus ex machina moments before the execution when nothing contained a parody of a happy ending, a messenger from the Queen arrives to pardon Macheath and grant a title of baron.
