MOVIE SYNOPSIS - Where can I watch it and what's the story of this 1993 film?

In a town called Hope at the end of the British Empire, is a clash of despair: the beautiful Dorothea Brook is desperate to free his pregnant sister Rose from the clutches of Fraser, fortune hunter. A local politician, William Poyner, is desperate to spend, and thinks that marriage to Dorothea will save him. Dorothea hires Lawrence Hayes, an Argonaut hard but handsome, to bribe Fraser with jewels and to marry Rose, Hayes desperately loves Dorothea and may marry Rose to be near her. But Dorothea has a lover, the lovely Anne Cooper, who encourages the match with Poyser to give the lovers haven. Will these remedies, each desperate to turn, to make someone happy ?
