MOVIE SYNOPSIS - Where can I watch it and what's the story of this 1986 film?

Even a small town in the American Midwest, comes a boy who has a talent for mechanics and mathematics. He is accompanied by his mother and a robot made by himself, of human reactions and emergency powers. It soon becomes good friends with a girl who lives outside his home, but she dies from a beating he tipped his authoritarian father. The young man refuses to accept that she is dead and enter the robot's brain in the body of the girl.
