MOVIE SYNOPSIS - Where can I watch it and what's the story of this 1954 film?

Contemporary version of the Bizet opera, with African American format. A woman seduces Joe, a soldier about to be married. Man argues with his sergeant and ends deserting, only to find that the wife left him unleashing a tragic revenge.
