Old Cuban musicians whose talents had been virtually forgotten following Castro's takeover in Cuba, are extracted from retirement by Ry Cooder, who traveled to Havana in order that the musicians come together, resulting in triumphant performances reviving a range extraordinary melodies and rhythms and resurrecting the careers of musicians.
