MOVIE SYNOPSIS: You can watch Peace on Earth, full movie on FULLTV - Peace on Earth is an animated short Metro- Goldwyn -Mayer directed by Hugh Harman in 1939. The story shows a post-apocalyptic planet inhabited by animals. According to Hugh Harman's obituary in the New York Times and Ben Mankiewicz, host of Cartoon Alley on Turner Classic Movies, the cartoon was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize. However, it appears in the list of nominees. Mankiewicz also claimed that it was the first cartoon of a large study on playing a serious issue. In 1994 he was ranked 40th of 50 Greatest Cartoons, thanks to the votes of several members of the animation industry. He was also nominated for the Oscar for best animated short film of 1939, but the award went to The Ugly Duckling, a short film from Disney's Silly Symphonies series.
