The cat who lived a million times? is an illustrated story at the time of its publication in the seventies it became almost immediately in a reference work within the Japanese children's books of all time. Like many other Japanese in the last three decades children, the director Tadasuke Kotani met through the voice of his mother this text revolves around concepts like death, love, loneliness or reincarnation. It is therefore not random or capricious that his documentary is built on the basis of the readings that several mothers carry the book, and a long and emotional interview with Yoko Sano, the famous author who in the course of filming died of cancer. Impregnated with a melancholy lyricism and difficult to circumvent, The cat who lived a million times, the documentary is a journey that brings us memories to life, from life to death and death, adamantly, to I forget.
